{two years into reading like rory}

After two years of reading like Rory I have checked off a fair amount of books! Twenty-one more books cracked and read!

{in case you cannot read the titles here I will list them at the bottom of this list, with links so you can purchase them if you haven’t read them yet}

I am a little behind in writing these posts, as I am currently well into my fifth year of tackling this rather lengthy reading list.  However, I don’t want to just skip ahead.  So here we are.

There were some little kid reads in here that were quick and easy to get through.  There were a couple text book-ish reads that were dreadful to get through.  There were a ton that I absolutely loved and were pleasant to get through.  And then there was Ulysses…

Ulysses is going to require a whole post of it’s own; but I will say that I have a love-hate relationship with this piece of work.

My least favorite of this year was probably Sophie’s Choice.  I just think I wasn’t a fan of the writing style.  I had the hardest time committing to this book and getting through to the end.  Not to mention that it is an extremely awkward book to read in public when you are living in Germany.  Lots of time spent trying to keep the book cover hidden while reading.

My favorite, if I had to choose one from this year, would have to be The Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I had seen the movies countless times, which is not something I like to do.  I am a big believer in book first, movie second.  The movies were so good to the books it ended up being alright.  But the books were SOOOOO much better!  I loved the amount of detail that J.R.R. Tolkien wove into these three books.  I could reread these books over and over again.  You know, in twenty years when I finish this list.

Here are the twenty-one titles I finished in my second year:

Comment about what you’re reading or your thoughts about any of these books!

Happy reading book worms!

  1. Totally agree about Lord of the Rings! I saw the first movie and after that, I had to read all of them before I watched anymore. I LOVED the books…and was so happy that the movies were true to them.

    1. i wish i would have done that! although the only thing it really changed was i already had a mental image of every character.
