You guys see a lot about what I am reading and you hear about what books I like and dislike.
I have been reading a lot of new chapter books with Little Miss and it is fun to share my bookworm ways with her. We get to talk about the characters and compare the books to their movies and other books in the series. It is so much fun!
So let’s discuss what books are our Little Miss’s favorite.
Little Miss and I talked about what her five favorite books are.
In no particular order, we have…
Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting*
I had seen the movie years ago; but had never actually read the book. Reading this one with Little Miss was lots of fun since she is such an animal lover!
She really enjoyed the idea of being able to talk to animals. She has decided that she is going to be able to talk to animals and has started by trying to speak cat. This isn’t annoying at all.
She also took a huge liking to the Pushmi-Pullyu character. She is convinced that this was at one time a real animal and that it is now extinct. I think it’s so cute and don’t have the heart to tell her it was just made up.
We have not watched the movie yet; but I definitely plan on it!
This isn’t a reading book; but Little Miss LOVES the find and seek books. This one especially. Because fairies.
Her and Daddy like to sit in bed every night before turning the lights out finding all the little things on one of the pages.
My Daddy Sleeps Everywhere by Jesse Franklin*
This is a newer book to us and we love it! It’s part of our Work Trip Wednesdays deployment countdown.
It’s such a cute story about how dads have to sleep all over the place while deployed; but how they would much prefer to be sleeping at home. She says she loves this one for the illustrations; but I think she loves to think of Daddy out there sleeping in weird places.
Little Miss and this Mommy both recommend this book to any military family!
The Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum*
This one was so much fun to read together for the first time!
I had definitely seen the movie before, many times. Even Little Miss had seen this movie. Which made it fun to compare the book details to the movie details as we read. Little Miss was disappointed that the movie was not like the book.
Sorry Little Miss, it will forever be disappointing.
She loved this story though and was excited to read more from the series.
Black Beauty by Anna Se Well*
Technically we have not finished this one yet. Not even close. Like one chapter in. But she refused to be reasoned with and insisted this book IS one of her favorites.
So, here it is.
Don’t tell her she won.
I cannot really complain though. It is a really good book! So I look forward to finishing this one up with my little bookworm.
I know, I know. I said five. It says five right in the title!
BUT…
Bonus!
I had to put in my favorite book to read to the littles!
Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss*
This “twister tongue” is my all time favorite book to read to the kids!
The kids love how quickly I can read through all the twists and turns that this one has to offer.
Little Miss has also memorized a good deal of it I may read it A LOT and I overhear her in bed at night “reading” the book to herself.
What are some of your littles favorite books?! What are your favorite books to read with your littles?! Do you like the tongue twisters of Dr. Seuss?!
