This week’s book is…
Hero Dad by Melinda Hardin.*
It is a super cute story making soldiers look like the super heroes they are!
I love how they take parts of the things they wear and relate them to things that the super heroes in movies would have. Like not having an invisibility cloak; but having camouflage instead!
This one was probably my favorite!
The littles really enjoyed this one too! Especially Bug who is super into the whole super hero thing.
It’s been a hectic week so no art project this week; but we did have a fun conversation.
During our car ride to swim we talked about what a hero is and what they do and what makes Daddy a hero.
What is a hero?
Little Miss: Someone who saves you.
Cuddle Bug: Batman! (he also said he’s a super hero!)
What do heroes do?
Little Miss: They help people and keep us safe.
Cuddle Bug: They fly!
How do they keep us safe?
Little Miss: By protecting us from bad guys, by doing their jobs, and doing a lot of other stuff.
Is Daddy a hero?
Little Miss: Yes! Because he’s in the Army! Because they have weapons that help us stay safe from bad guys.
Cuddle Bug: Because. Daddy can fly when he’s really Batman. (side note: he also says that Grampa is a hero and that his sister is a hero)
What are Daddy’s super powers?
Little Miss: Protecting us and keeping us safe by calling the cops to get the robbers.
Cuddle Bug: He can fly and jump!
Sorry Daddy, you have some BIG Batman shoes to fill according to Bug!
And of course it would not be a lovely car conversation without some fun, sibling arguing… *insert eye roll here*
Got to love that mom life!
Always the mediator, never the hero.
Ten books down, ten weeks down!
