This week’s book is…
Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss.*
Who doesn’t love Dr. Seuss?!
I mean, seriously?! Is there anyone who does not enjoy reading Dr. Seuss?!
One of my all time favorite authors to read to the kids because, as I said in the Llama Llama post, you cannot dislike a book that rhymes!
I am pretty sure there aren’t many people who have not enjoyed this book at least once in their lives; but for those of you who have
been living under a rock not…
Just a book of fun little rhymes!
With one in particular that references Daddy. Or, more accurately, Pop.
So, as a fun activity, I asked Little Miss if we could come up with a rhyme about Daddy.
She is super into rhyming so she was super excited about this activity!
This is what she came up with…
It was fun to think of all the rhyming words! We did it the way my Gramma taught me to do it and just went through the alphabet one letter at a time coming up with all the rhyming words. She was not very patient about this process; but she’ll get there!
Side note: hooking is in reference to fishing, as in “hooking a fish”.
Bug wanted in on the action and drew a picture of a “Daddy boat with a letter”. There’s no translation for that because I have no idea what he was talking about.
And then there is Little Bear over here missing Daddy; but not understanding at all how long he has actually been gone. He’s not really old enough to participate it most of these activities, he is here though! He colors with us for about five seconds and then is off, while his siblings are distracted, to find a toy that one of them took from him earlier.
Eleven books down, eleven weeks down!
Do you like this book?! What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?!
