This week’s book is…
Me and My Dad! by Alison Ritchie.*
This one was accidentally, perfectly time to be opened by our Little Bear. Honest! I did not tweak this one!
It is a super cute book about a little bear and his day with his dad. They twirl and play games and swim and hug. It ends on the sweet note of the two bears cuddling and falling asleep. So much cuteness!
I liked the way the little cub described his day with his papa bear.
To make this happen with the kids I broke the day up into five parts…
- waking up
- bath time
- bed time
I then divided up a big sheet of paper and drew a square for each part of their day. However, because even numbers are better, I made it six squares and devoted the extra to playing. You can never have too much playing!
I labeled each square.
Then I set the kids down with some crayons and their pieces of paper and told them to color a picture of… *insert label for that particular square here*
And of course it wouldn’t be anything in this house without some pouting…
I think he just doesn’t like Mommy’s art.
The end result?!
A little comic strip picture of their ideal day with Daddy!
So cute! And so much fun!
I just love Little Miss’s picture of Daddy playing with her on the monkey bars! How cute is that?! They both love building block towers on the coffee table with Daddy. And bath time apparently always involves lots and lots of bubbles when it’s Daddy’s turn to be in charge!
Twelve books down, twelve weeks down!
With our twelfth book being opened we have hit the three month mark of this deployment! We have kept busy and so far Mom hasn’t gone completely insane. Emphasis on the completely.
However, summer is looming.
Have you read this book?! What would your kids’ ideal day with Mom or Dad look like?!
