{five most anticipated books}

Hey! I’m still over here working on this Gilmore Girls list.

Although it may feel overwhelming, I do actually enjoy working my way through this list. I do look forward to the day that I flip the last page of the last book remaining on this epic list.

And when that happens I’ll just be over here like “What do I even do now?”

I don’t even want to think about what happens when this list is over!

I digress…

I have crossed off many books from this list; but even in my sixth year…

WOW! SIX YEARS!

However, even in my sixth year of tackling this list, there are still books that I am excited to crack open!

Let me just say, I don’t do much research about the books on the list. I know what I know just based on the reference in the show or because some are classics that everyone knows the basics about. That being said, my excitement to read is usually based on silliness.

And now I need to watch Finding Neverland. Like RIGHT NOW!

Wow! Am I distracted tonight! But seriously, such a good movie. Go watch! Well, finish reading this post first and then go watch!

{bookish quotes} one

Right now, the book I am probably most looking forward to getting read this year is…

Moby-Dick (Barnes & Noble Collectible Editions)Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

This book is such a classic and one that is referenced so much that I just have to join the club and become a whaler myself!

I am excited to dive deeper into this book – I started it last year then put it down and got distracted with other books. However, I want to read all about the Pequod’s journey through the open seas and about Captain Ahab’s quest for revenge.

Also, that cover!

This is the edition that I own because how could you not buy this book?! I just love how beautiful it is.

*fun fact I may have actually finished reading this one between typing it up and publishing it!*

{bookish quotes} two

The next book I would love to read this year is…

The Princess BrideThe Princess Bride by William Goldman.

The excitement for this book is based purely on the fact that I grew up watching, and loving, this movie.

I know, I know.

Movies and books are never a good match. NEVER.

However, I can’t help that my mom introduced me to this movie before I was old enough to know that one should always read the book first!

So, now I must endure the struggle of reading a book after I have seen it’s movie. However will I survive?!

I know, I have a hard life.

{bookish quotes} three

My third book is…

No Country for Old MenNo Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy.

I am excited to crack this book open because of Cormac McCarthy’s All the Pretty Horses. This book is also on the list and I read it last year. I really enjoyed the writing style and the story, which makes me want to jump into more written by McCarthy.

After looking up the book a little bit, I read the back cover of my copy it sounds like it is set in a similar Texas border town as All the Pretty Horses; but with a much darker, more sinister plot.

I’ll just get the popcorn popping now!

Next book on my excitement list is…

The Armies of the Night: History as a Novel, the Novel as History The Armies of the Night by Norman Mailer.

This one is based solely on the fact that the author is Norman Mailer! I have never read any of his work; but have always wanted to.

This particular work of his also excites me because it’s based on history and takes place in D.C. which is where we just moved from! There is just something about reading books that are set in places you have been or lived.

AND

If you go to the Wikipedia page for this particular book, two of the three books the page references are also on the list and the author of the third is on the list too! So, now I am excited to read those books too!

My post about anticipated books is making me anticipate more books…

giphy-4

I think it’s safe to say I have fallen down the rabbit hole.

{bookish quotes} five

Last; but not least excited, is the book…

On the RoadOn the Road by Jack Kerouac.

This is another one thats anticipation comes purely from the author. I have always wanted to read Kerouac and am kind of disappointed he never came up in my schooling.

I honestly do not even know what this book is about; but look forward to diving into some Kerouac and seeing what comes of it.

Plus, this is the very first book referenced in the entire series of Gilmore Girls! Well, first author! But, still! That makes it a must read! I probably should have started with this one…

Also, can we just take a minute to appreciate the first song of Gilmore Girls too!

OK, done nerding out now.

Hopefully, I can find my way through all five of these this year!

Or at least three of the five?

Obviously I’m not setting the bar that high at the moment…

Now, it’s time to get reading!

Have you read any of these books?!

Are they good?

Amazing?

Meh?

Bad?

Talk to me!
