{work trip wednesdays: when i miss you}

This week’s book a little late is…

When I Miss You

When I Miss You by Cornelia Maude Spelman.*

This book is part of a “The Way I Feel” series that help littles identify their emotions and feelings and then how to handle said feelings.

This particular book touches on separation anxiety and how Mommy and/or Daddy may leave; but they come back.

It ends on such a sweet note.

The littles really enjoyed this one and it was a great prompt to discuss their feelings about Daddy’s work trip.

When do you miss Daddy?

Little Miss – “All day. Every day.”

Cuddle Bug – “I miss Daddy in the morning too.”

What do you miss doing with Daddy?

Little Miss – “I miss going fishing, sorting my tackle box, and wrestling.”

Cuddle Bug – “I miss playing with him. Playing with toys and with blocks.”

What helps you feel better when you miss Daddy?

Little Miss – “Skyping with him.”

Cuddle Bug – “My stuffed animal.”

Cuddle Bug joined in the question asking and asked Mommy “What do you miss playing with Daddy?” I told him I miss watching movies with Daddy.

The kids weren’t very chatty this morning. They’re all coughing and just wanting to lay and watch movies.

Fourteen books down, fourteen weeks down!

Have you read this book?!

Have you ever read any of this series before?!

  1. Touches my heart… I am missing my dad who passed away last week. Even when your dad is/was 93 – you miss him when he is “away.” Most of all, I just miss talking to him every day. So glad I see so much of him in Jeffrey.
