{traffic}

As though driving with kids isn’t already an awesome adventure…

Throw traffic jams into the mix.

Nothing says fun like sitting still on the interstate with a screaming baby.

Or a hungry child.

Or a recently potty trained toddler who has to go now.

Or just three littles who have nicely rode in the car for fourteen hours only to hit Chicago traffic an hour from Gramma and Grampa’s.

I try to be prepared.

I have snacks or toys or music or anything to use as a distraction really.

However, there comes a point, where no more distractions work. And then you are just stuck. In a car. Full of unhappy littles.

We have lived in D.C. and in Germany, so we have seen some serious traffic. Yes Germany has he beautiful highway known as the Autobahn! Which is amazing! Until it’s not…

The beautiful thing about the Autobahn is that there is no speed limit. The not so beautiful thing about the Autobahn is that, when there is an accident, the whole thing shuts down. We have sat for hours without moving an inch. Like turn your car off and seriously debate getting out to play with the sidewalk chalk in your trunk not moving.

I am pretty thankful that while in Germany we just had Little Miss to deal with during these traffic situations. Also, pretty thankful that my littles are rockstars in the car! Even during traffic! Mostly…

Everyone has their limits.

Well, there you have it, it’s been just another Manic Momday!

  1. UG… Traffic! Often time for Car Dinner, and the precious time to catch up with my not-so Little. Thanks for this post. I’ll remember next time (oh, in an hour), if I had lots of Littles in my car and how that would change my traffic time. Love the way you write and tell stories!
