This week’s book slightly delayed is…
Night Catch by Brenda Ehrmantraut.*
It’s a sweet book about a Dad and his son playing catch even through deployment.
AND this book has rhyming! Which, those of you who have been following along, know I love!
Some children’s books are amazing; but make it rhyme and it’s next level!
I promise I will stop going on and on and on about how much I love a good rhyme.
In due time.
See what I did there?!
It’s nice that they make mention of the time difference because that has been super hard for our littles to grasp the concept. They have a hard time getting that morning for us means goodnight for Daddy.
It’s a sweet, military specific, book for littles.
Our oldest Little enjoys playing catch with Daddy; but usually only has the attention span to do so for a few minutes.
The boys kind of, maybe, actually play…fetch.
Yup, I said it!
We are guilty of playing fetch with our littles.
To play a version of this book’s catch idea with Daddy, we made little stars of our own to send him using good old snail mail!
And we had some friends come too!
I cut out some stars from card stock.
Instead of just the usual crayons, I decided to fill up some cups with water, pull out some paint brushes, and unleash the water colors!
The littles love to paint!
And they loved painting stars to send to Daddy! And to share with friends.
Once they were all done painting their stars we set them on the counter and waited for them to dry.
Then, all we had to do was grab an envelope and fill it with stars for Daddy to catch!
Our pile of books is already looking significantly shorter!
Sixteen books down, sixteen weeks down!
Have you read this book?!
Do you love, love, LOVE rhyming too?!
If you don’t, we can’t be friends. Just kidding! Kind of…
Do your kids miss playing catch, or fetch, with Daddy while he is deployed?
