work trip wednesdays

{work trip wednesdays: because i’m your dad}

This week’s book is…

Because I'm Your Dad

Because I’m Your Dad by Ahmet Zappa.*

These is a sweet book that talks about all the things Daddy gets to do with his littles. It talks about Daddy tickling and Daddy filling the bathtub with Rocky Road ice cream something my littles now think we should do and Daddy building mud forts.

It even talks about Daddy being away and how much he misses his littles.

It has cute illustrations and is just a fun, sweet read.

And, as usual with these books, it ends on a super sweet note.

Since we have been traveling, a craft project was not in the cards this week or you know, last week, when this was actually supposed to be posted; but we did have a sweet conversation.

I asked them to finish the sentence Because I’m your Dad…

They responded with a bunch of things that Mom has taught them how to do or that Mom took them to do or that Mom does with them.

…I’ll teach you how to ride a horse.

…I’ll teach you how to swim.

…I’ll teach you how to ride a bike without training wheels.

…I’ll teach you how to read.

Seriously. Dad has been horse back riding once in his life. I drove two of the three to swim lessons for weeks. Little Miss taught herself how to ride a bike without training wheels while Mom watched. And Little Miss’s teachers taught her to read while Mom has enjoyed listening to her sound out EVERY WORD WE EVER SEE for the past six months.

SOOOOOO…back to the drawing board for a moment…

After some prompting towards more Dad related activities I got these two responses. Sorry Dad.

…I will take you fishing.

…we will get ice cream at the river.

I have really loved all of the conversations that these books have sparked with me and our littles. They really have the best little minds and imaginations! It’s always fun to see how they interpret questions and such.

Eighteen books down, eighteen weeks down!

Have you read this cute book?!

Do your littles love books with monsters?

What kinds of things do you and your littles talk about after reading?
