This week’s book is…
Daddy’s Boots by Sandra Miller Linhart.*
This is such a cute story about Daddy’s work boots and how different work boots help Daddies do different jobs.
This sweet story even touches on the difficult subject of Daddy possibly getting hurt while on a work trip.
Then it moves on to discussing when the boots and Daddy will be coming back home. Daddy explains that he has a job to do and that when that job is done his boots will bring him home.
We cannot wait for Daddy’s boots to bring him back home!
Daddy does have more than one pair of boots, as I am sure most military parents do, so we decided to play a little game!
Mom set up an obstacle course using boxes, pillows, blankets, and a “ball pit”.
The idea was to make it through the table tunnel, into the ball pit, out through the pillow mountains, through the cavern, through more pillow mountains, and all the way into the dark cave to the stuffed animals that needed to be saved from the big, scary monster!
To create a big, scary monster I just created a shadow on the bed tent with the flashlight on my phone!
After setting up the obstacle course I pulled out Daddy’s boots and one of his old uniform tops because Mommy is mean and could use a good laugh and explained to the littles what they needed to do.
They thought this was hilariously fun and enjoyed playing for hours! Just not with the boots and tops on. Apparently, that was only funny for mom.
They had a blast!
And watching them trying to function in Daddy’s work boots and top was pretty hilarious!
